1st sp8 package (a little late), and Jayne Cobb hat.

First, when I got home from A-Kon (yeah, almost a month ago), I had my first sp8 package waiting! Inside, I found:

Two books: Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitting Without Tears and Vogue Knitting Quick Knits. Knitting Without Tears was on my wishlist, Quick Knits was not, but I love them both!

A great pink basket (with stars! I'm going to paint them a shinier silver) for my future bike.

A keychain measuring tape (how freaking neat!) and, best of all,

an uber cute pink striped bag! OH EM GEE I love it! I cart this thing around with me everywhere now (which says alot because I am NOT a purse person).

In Jayne Cobb hat news: the pattern I used was a bit...shall we

The gauge was 3 stitches to an inch. I got gauge. (Stitches colored so they can be better seen).

The pattern then said to knit 3 rows in ribbing, and then stockinette stitch for 3.5 inches. Did that.

Then I was to change color and knit for another 3.5 inches before decreasing. Check.

Decreasing and adding the flaps went fine, but I didn't add the pompom because the hat I ended up with was large enough for a gorilla.

So I cast on fewer stitches, only knit about 2.75 inches in the orange,

Knit about 3.25 in the yellow before decreasing (after watching the episode again, I decided there should be about an inch more yellow than orange)

Changed my decreases, and added the flaps and pompom for a smaller hat.

The difference between the two is INCREDIBLE.

The smaller one is still a bit too long, but it is quite possible I have a smallish head. I will make the next one even shorter. I'm thinking 2 inches in orange and 2.5 or 2.75 in yellow before decreasing.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I will be out of town from Monday until Wednesday for the holiday.

job again

I quit my job, due to many reasons I won't go into here.

So, the dealer's website is lame and took down the picture of my car, but here is another:

I LOVE this car. Everything about her is wonderful. She doesn't have a name yet, though.

In other news, I am very lazy and have pictures that need to go from my camera to my computer, but haven't moved them yet. I made a Jayne Cobb hat, followed the exact directions, got gauge, even did a swatch, and it still turned out FAR too large. If anyone knows of a gorilla that needs a Jayne Cobb hat, let me know - I can hook that up.

In other, other news: Bryce and I are currently working an a new, blog for me. I'll have my own domain, and I won't have to put up with weird coding on blogger's part. So look for that *hopefully* in the next month or two.

Work has really been keeping me busy, and when I'm not working, I'm tired from working. I promise I will have an update with pictures on Wednesday (Thursday at the latest).

I got a car!

Isn't she precious? She's a 2004 Kia Rio Cinco edition (means she's a wagon), and she only has 12,500 miles on her, and is still under factory warranty. She's a good sized wagon, and still she handles like a smaller sedan.

This is the link to her info from the dealer's website.

I like my car.

We had a Halo 2 tournament at work today, and then I got pulled over for an expired tag.

Also, check this out.

Also also, if the person that commissioned a hat from me at A-Kon happens to be reading this, know this: I didn't get your email and I ran into a bit of a delay (but the hat should go in the mail tomorrow or Wednesday). Email me if you need to:, or just comment here so I know you did or did not get the message.

I just got a job doing level 1 tech support for the Xbox 360.

I don't know whether I'm happy or not. I like money, so I think I am happy.

It's amazing when someone that you don't know writes something on their blog, or on a forum, or whatever, that makes you say "holy shit I've been there" or "holy shit I am there" and you never realized there was a problem before.

I don't currently have a problem, but I have in the past, and those problems have been haunting my dreams lately. I'm glad I get to go to Chicks with Sticks tonight. I need a break from myself.

A-Kon (after the fact)

A-Kon was a blast, but, once again, I totally forgot to take pictures. Not one damn picture.

However, I sold all of my kitty hats and took a commission on another. Didn't sell the scarf or the bag, though, so it looks like I'll just end up putting them on my shop when I get it up and running. I got a package from my Secret Pal, which was also great, but I haven't taken pictures yet.

It looks like next year I'll be making some AMVs again, which I'm excited about.

I'm leaving in the morning for A-kon, so I won't be back until late Sunday. That information is mostly for my SP, so that she knows why when I con't email her back directly.

For now, though, I'm going to leave you with some pictures of FOs I hope to be selling at A-Kon.

A scarf that is really much prettier in person.

A pretty little cabled bag.

Some kitty toys

And a family of kitty hats. I've been calling them The Bradys - what do y'all think?

Also, the cute link of the day: I've been referring to this as "MySpace for cats". The link is a direct link to Bryce's cat, so if you have a kitty - put her on Catster and add Bast!

Pictures that should've been up months ago...

Okay, so first comes some pictures of my LAST sp7 package (FINALLY, hehe).
Some great stitchmarkers that my wonderful (former) pal Jenna made

a belt kit that I have been too lazy to put together

a washcloth that she made (and closeup of it)

Some yummy smelling lotion

some apple scented soap strips that are really pretty neat

A Kelloggs' notepad that claims to have "Coco the Monkey" on the front, but it's really "Jose the Monkey" because according to the link there, Jose and Coco look quite different, and this monkey looks like Jose. I JUST found that out when I was looking for a "Coco the Monkey" link.

She also sent some neat pencils (I think from an Asian Market) that I couldn't get a good picture of.

I have more pictures to post, but they will come later. That was just so old I wanted to get it out of the way.

I'm too lazy to resize ALL my pics just now, but as you can see in my profile, my hair is now BRIGHT PINK! YAY!

Also, check out who lives in my apartment's backyard.
