My Daddy

I've been sick all day. I missed my first two classes, and was actually going to try to make it to my German class this evening. I was about to leave for class, and I got a call from my mom. She told me that my dad's in the hospital.

Apparently he was at work and started having chest pains, and his arm got numb, he tried to call my grandpa to ask him about the pains or to drive him to the hospital, I'm not sure which. He couldn't get ahold of my grandpa, so he called my grandma at work. She came and got him and drove him over to the hospital. They ran a bunch of tests on him and so far none of them have shown anything, but thay're keeping him overnight to run a treadmill stress test on him in the morning.

My mom is going to call me before my class tomorrow to let me know how that turned out. I hope my daddy is okay.

News

I met Bruce Campbell last night. It was exciting.

I could tell stores about this man for days, but just know that he was amazing. I got new yarn in, but I broke my camera, so no pictures of yarn or FOs.

day 2

After two days of classes, I'm already behind on my work (well, not behind, just...getting a late start) and my legs feel like they're going to fall off from walking all over campus.

The good news, however, is that I'm only driving my car to work and back (less than a mile). The bad news is that I'm already unbelievably exhausted.

New Beginnings

Not much to say, except that I have been BUSY. My first class is in about an hour and 20 minutes, which is exciting for me. I've met some really great people that live in the residence halls here on campus, and it is NOT unusual for us to stay awake until indecent hours of the night (er...morning) talking about anything and everything.

In other exciting news, I get to see Bruce Campbell this Thursday at The Tivoli. I am so excited! He's going to be there promoting The Man With the Screaming Brain. I am seriously excited to an unhealthy degree.

Also, my newfound friends and I have started posting these bad boys around the residence halls:

That's right, we NEVER see any neighbors. Or at least, we see a very small amount of neighbors. So we decided to start a revolution.

Today is also my first day of work, as well. That's right, I'm back at Blockbuster. I'm excited. I'm excited about everything these days. This beats my attitude a year or so ago, when I didn't want to do anything and was ready to sign up for the military. I can't believe so much has happened in a year. It really just blows my mind.

I drove from St. Louis to Austin with no shoes on

Okay, so I just had a big post typed out that I was working on, and I lost it, so I'll cut this down to the basics.

Got to Tulsa on Tuesday. My mom caught (with the help of my cat) a hummingbird Wednesday morning.

Left for Austin Friday around 1pm, accidentally took some sort of backwater highway through Oklahoma and was stuck in Dallas traffic for about an hour, made it to Austin around 9pm (okay this is where I left off), found Bryce's apartment fairly easily, met Bast. I spent the last two months hearing about how this cat probably won't like me, she hates everyone, etc., and she immediatly started rubbing on my leg and ejoying being petted. What can I say, evil kitties love me.

We leave his apartment, go check into the hotel, and go get some food. We went to some tex-mex place that he likes a lot (I'm not a big fan of tex-mex), and while the food was average at best, they had some kick ass margaritas. After we ate we went back to the hotel room because I was tired from driving all day, where we proceeded to stay awake upil about 5am, which is what I seem to do every time I'm with him.

Saturday morning we woke up, had breakfast at IHOP and went to Schlitterbahn, where we basically stood in line for three hours to ride ONE water ride, and then it started threatening to rain, so we left. As disappointing as that was, that evening we went to The Alamo Drafthouse, which, being the movie geek that I am, has since become my favorite place in the world. I mean, these are the theatres I would run, if I ran theatres. They show not only new movies, but cult classics and old favorties as well. This coming weekend, the location we went to is showing Trainspotting. AND they serve food and alcohol. Other than seeing Bryce, seeing Dukes of Hazzard there was the high point of my visit. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and, once again, stayed awake far later than we should have.

Sunday we had lunch with his mom and stepdad. I was so nervous about that, but they were pretty nice. I would have been more nervous if I had known beforehand that, after he met me, he informed his mother that I enjoy porn. After lunch, which was okay, we went back to his mom's house, where we proceeded to sit around, talking and petting any one of his mom's four cats, for about three hours, at which point we left, hung around the hotel for about three hours, went to Denny's and ate, and then, once again, stayed up until about 5am, which was unwise considering he had to wake up for work at 8:30am, and I was also going to leave the hotel when he left (supposedly around 9:30). Well, it was about 10:30 before I left Austin, and he later told me he was about 40 minutes late for work.

Also, on Sunday night, I was talking to him about how I was considering transferring to either TU or UT after this year, and he asked me if I would move in with him if I chose UT. So naturally I said of course I would, and thusly made my decision to move to Austin after school's out for the year.

As for knitting goes, I keep forgetting to take pictures of the scarves I've been making with Stefanie's pattern. However, I do have a random garter stitch scarf I finished.

There is also much drama going on in the world of ex-boyfriends, but I am having to rescrict what I say in public areas (such as my online journals) due to his immature friends. Honestly, I would like nothing better to rant about everything that happened today, however, I can't because his friends obviously have no better outlet for their emotions besides making fun of people who trusted them, and making them feel like shit.

Austin by way of Tulsa

So, I leave St. Louis tomorrow morning for Tulsa! Yay! I'm so excited to be going home. I miss my mom, and my kitty, and good food, and String, and the oriental market (I know, we have them here, just none quite so good, and Kat and Carter, and everything else about Tulsa. Plus my Grandma is in the hospital (she had surgery on a hernia, eww) and I want to visit her. I just wish I had more money to spend on yarn and new swag for my dorm. I'm going to be lucky if I get to buy anything at all.

BUT THEN, Friday around noon or one I'll be heading out of Tulsa for Austin to see my sweetie, who I also miss very much, and i have a feeling that yarn will be purchased for me if I can find a good LYS. I've never been to Austin, so I'm not sure how that will work out.

IN KNITTING NEWS, I finished the scarf from Stefanie's Pennywise Projects, along with a plain garter stitch scarf in a wonderful fuzzy purple mohair. I have packed my camera, and the projects (for they are gifts to much loved Tulsans) but I will have pictures when I come back, I promise.

seems about right

You are pink aluminum.
Retro, straightforward and fun, you love classic
things. If they're 99 cents at Goodwill all the
better! You are moved by striking colors and
tasty morsels, and you like a stitch-n-bitch
session in the sun. Just remember, while
you're being kitschy cool, don't get too cold.
Ice cubes are best kept in your cocktails,
baby!

What kind of knitting needles are you?

I just wanted to update to post the picture of what I've done (so far) on the scarf for Stefanie's Pennywise Projects.
